Berriew sign Town skipper

It’s been a busy week for Berriew who have followed up the reforming of their reserve side with the signing of Welshpool Town skipper Sam Evans.

Evans, the son of Town legend Ian, will officially join The Rhiewsiders once the FAW registration window opens.

The 20-year-old midfielder said: “It was time for a change, and Berriew was the perfect club. I know DJ (manager Dave Jones) and a lot of the players, and I can’t wait to get started and hopefully help the side win more silverware.”

With the restructuring of Tier 3 this summer, the 2020/2021 season promises to be a tough test for local clubs who could find themselves in a new North East league which will include sides from the Welsh National League (Wrexham Area).

But should Berriew join the new set-up, they will be without striker Charlie Humphreys who has returned to former club Abermule after two fruitful seasons with Berriew.
