Montgomery Town said they have “sadly accepted” the resignation of manager Rob Davies, who only came to the post last September.

The frustrations of lockdown meant he was unable to take the reins for a full league fixture, and the club has started the search for a new boss, with club captain Alec Jones, assisted by Lee Jones, taking charge for the interim.

“Montgomery Town Football Club have sadly accepted the resignation of Rob Davies, the club’s manager,” the club stated.

“After a positive committee meeting on Sunday, we are pleased to announce that Alec Jones, our club captain, has agreed to take over the manager’s role until a permanent replacement is found.

“Alec will be assisted by Lee Jones and has the full support of the committee as the club moves forward. We wish Rob all the very best for the future and a big thank you for all he has done for the club.”
