Guils off to perfect start

 Guilsfield got off to the perfect start in the JD Cymru North, beating Llandudno 3-0.

The club has sent out a clear message of intent to other sides in the league with the signing of The New Saints top scorer Greg Draper and the striker has already made his mark.

Jamie Hyne gave Guilsfield the lead on 37 minutes and that man Draper notched his debut league goal after 65 minutes. Iwan Matthews completed thre 3-0 scoreline 11 minutes from the end.

Llanrhaeadr ended second best in a hard-fought opening day defeat at defending champions Prestatyn Town, going down 3-1.

The deadlock was broken after 35 minutes with Ryan Kehoe on target after bursting through the visitors’ defence to round Lee Andrew and slot into an empty net.

The Seasiders tightened their grip on the game after the break with Patrick Hamid doubling the lead after lashing home a corner from Mason Blackwell-Jones on the hour.

Ashley Ruane put the points beyond reach with 13 minutes remaining following a Ryan Campbell assist.

Llanrhaeadr continued to toil in the heat and were rewarded with a consolation from youngster Zack Davies with five minutes remaining to raise morale.

Llanidloes shared the spoils at Holywell Town, coming back from 2-0 to earn a point.

Jake Cooke opened the scoring after eight minutes before Danny Sullivan doubled the tally 10 minutes later. Elliott Jones reduced the arrears on the stroke of half-time with a headed effort following a corner to get Llanidloes back in the game.

Llanidloes continued to toil and with 12 minutes remaining were rewarded once more when George Clarke found substitute Connor Bird to level as the Daffodils celebrated an opening day point on the road.
