Missed chances cost Guilsfield points

Missed chances, including a penalty, cost Guilsfield points in the JD Cymru North last night.

The villagers should have maintained their 100 per cent start in the league but fluffed their lines in a 1-1 home draw with Buckley.

Guilsfield had the better of the first half chances but could find no way through and it wasn’t until a minute after the break that they found the net and in spectacular fashion with Iwan Lewis netting from 25 yards.

And minutes later it should have been 2-0 when Iwan Matthews was brought down in the box only to get up and put the penalty wide.

The missed chances came back to haunt Guilsfield with Sam Wainwright rattling in another 25 yarder on 78 minutes to earn the visitors a share of the points.

Guilsfield came close to an injury time winner with Callum Bromley heading against the Buckley bar.

Elsewhere Llanidloes Town made it two points from two as they drew 0-0 at home to Llanrhaeadr in the first Mid Wales derby of the season.
