Early birds through to next round

An early start at Pennard Golf Club proved no problem for Welshpool golfers in the Welsh Team Championships Scratch Finals this morning.

Called to the tee for 7am in wet and windy conditions the Welshpool lads swept Northop aside 5-0 to reach tomorrow’s second round stage and it will be another 7am start – this time against Southerndown who beat Prestatyn 4-1.

For Welshpool Harry Bowen won 5-5, Dan Stephens 2-1, Tommi Bowen 4-3, Jamie Waldron 3-2 and Richard Templeton 3-2.
