Adele bids for ‘last chance’ Olympics spot

Welshpool’s very own superwoman, Adele Nicoll, is bidding to book her place at next month’s Winter Olympics this weekend when her bobsleigh team has the last chance to qualify.

Adele, brakewoman for pilot Mica McNeill in Team DHL, will be hoping to make the mark at the final event of the World Cup season in St Moritz, Switzerland, which doubles up as the European Championship.

“It's our last chance to qualify for the Olympics,” she said. “The team have secured 2/3 qualifying marks so far. This weekend is the last World Cup race before the Games - We'll give it all we've got.”

Mica and Adele (pictured) secured a remarkable silver medal earlier this month at the Sigulda round and arrive in Switzerland feeling confident.

These are impressive times for the 25-year-old who has already qualified to represent Wales in the shot put at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
