Guilsfield crash, a Rovers double and O'Donnells run riot

30/01/2022 @ 08:45

It’s been a bad weekend for Guilsfield, a double delight for Waterloo Rovers and party time in the O’Donnell house at Forden.

Guilsfield suffered a real setback in their search for JD Cymru North honours by collapsing 3-0 at Holywell who netted through Bibby, Wiltshire and Forbes.

Waterloo Rovers were celebrating a rare double with both first team and reserves registering wins.

The senior side beat Montgomery 2-1 in the MMP Mid Wales League with Adam Gough snatching victory in the 95th minute to stay equal top. Tom Evans had given Montgomery a fourth minute lead before Tom Ellis equalised in the 81st.

Waterloo Reserves won 3-2 at Llanfechain in the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire League. Jordan Greatorex gave the villagers a 15th minute lead only to see Jack Watkins level before the break. Josh Hodgetts restore the home side’s advantage with a freak long range effort but Owen and Rob Jones ensured victory for Rovers, who dominated the second half.

But the party of the day was at Forden where the O’Donnell brothers saw off Churchstoke in a 5-0 win. Harry netted three and Jake two.
