Welshpool Rugby Club captain Ryan Goodwin is on international duty tomorrow, and will be hoping for a curtain raising Wales win over the Irish ahead of the big Six Nations opener on Saturday.
Retained firefighter Goodwin has been in sparkling form for the town in recent seasons, and it has earned him a call-up to the Welsh Fire & Rescue Service side that will take on their Irish counterparts in Belfast tomorrow (Friday).
“I am really looking forward to getting out there and playing,” Ryan told us. “The pandemic has impacted local rugby over the past couple of years, so I am just happy that I have been playing well enough to earn a call-up.”
The Six Nations kicks off on Saturday with defending champions Wales facing Ireland in Dublin at 2.30pm.
