Walk and Talk Rugby: one year on

16/05/2022 @ 07:06

Welshpool Rugby Club is marking one year since launching an initiative that has succeeded in using the sport to bring people of all ages together in the town.

Walk and Talk Walking Rugby was created in association with Ponthafren, the locally-based charity that promotes positive mental health, and will celebrate its birthday with an open taster session this Thursday for anyone that fancies giving it a go.

“Walking rugby is a non-contact, walking version of rugby, played and enjoyed by all ages, all genders, and all abilities,” said Huw Williams, Rugby & Community Wellbeing Officer.

“You can play for as long or as little as you are able to; if you want to stop and have a chat, feel free. We look forward to meeting you and hope you enjoy it! The club will be open afterwards if you fancy some refreshments and a friendly chat.”

Thursday's session will run from 6pm-7pm in front of the rugby clubhouse and if you are interested, email walkingrugbywelshpool@gmail.com, or get in touch with Huw on 07508709346. You can also visit https://www.facebook.com/WalkTalkRugbyWelshpool.
