Welshpool swimmer Dan Jones made it a morning to remember for Welshpool at the Commonwealth Games by advancing to the semi-finals of the 50m freestyle.
Just as Adele Nicoll was securing her place in the shot put final, Jones took his magnificent form from the relays into his first individual event – and he didn’t even need to be at his best.
The 25-year-old clocked 22.65 seconds to go through as the 10th fastest qualifier, but he will need to push his personal best of 22.58 if he is to make the final. We will find at tonight when the semi-final takes place at 8pm.
Meanwhile, Montgomery’s Caroline Taylor started her Bowls pairs campaign for Wales with a 16-16 draw with Canada in Group D. She is back in action tomorrow.
