No medal but more glory for Adele

There was no medal but another amazing performance tonight from Welshpool’s Adele Nicoll in the Commonwealth Games.

The Welshpool shot putter was going to need to smash her own personal best throw to crash the medal ceremony but still managed to finish in a brilliant eighth place at The Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham.

Adele’s first throw of 17.08m put her seventh ion the standings and then throws of 16.74m and 17.03m meant she was sitting in eight place after qualifying for the final in fourth, just one place from the medals.

Adele followed up with a fourth throw of 17.05m and completed her action with a final effort of 17.02 to finish in eight place but despite her obvious disappointment she had done Welshpool and Wales proud in Birmingham.
