I’m far from done!

Following another incredible showing on the international stage, Forden endurance runner Andrew Davies is showing no sign of slowing down at the age of 42, and is already preparing for his next big event.

Despite making the marathon qualifying time for Team Wales at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, he was shunned by his country and instead prepared for Team GB at the ongoing European Championships.

He finished a respectable 35^th from nearly 80 runners in the blistering Munich heat on Monday, clocking a time of 2 hours and 17.04 seconds, and while he could be excused for putting his feet up and taking a time out, the Newtown campus college lecturer is about to step up his training regime once again.

“Munich was a very tough marathon in the heat, but after a few days' rest and recovery I am back in training for the European 50km Championships in Madrid in seven weeks’ time!” Davies told us.

“Hopefully I might be able to squeeze the Lake Vyrnwy Half Marathon in too (September 18), so that would be awesome to do seeing as it’s my marathon training ground.” 

Davies has been one of the country’s top long-distance runners for two decades and despite heading towards his mid-40’s, he appears to be simply getting faster.
