Mark Brown and Harry Bowen had a weekend to remember at Welshpool Golf Club scooping up two of the club's big prizes.

On Saturday the youngsters saw off seasoned campaigners Richard Evans and Graham Hughes in the final of the Terry Edwards competition, the game finishing on the 15th green.

And they continued their fine form with an early morning Sunday start to win the Forresters Grip with the narrowest of victories. The pair netted a fine score of 69, which was just .2 of a shot better than the in-form pair of Pat Burke and John Moss. In third place with 69.8 were Wally Watkins and Ian Spencer, edging out Steve Morris  and Mal Dutton on 70.

Graham Moss continued his rich vein of form by running away with the AP Squibb Cup on Saturday. The 14 handicapper finished five points clear with 41 ahead of Mark Williams (18) .

The ladies played two league matches during the week, losing away at Borth in the handicap league, but returning a win at home against Cradoc in the scratch league. All matches have now been played in both leagues and the final league results are eagerly anticipated.

This Saturday members will compete for the Martin Gannon Memorial Cup.
