Dyke treble sinks plucky Pool

Striker Graham Dyke (pictured) made a massive impact by coming on as a second half substitute to net a hat-trick as Guilsfield overcame Technogroup Welshpool 4-0 tonight (Tuesday).
Welshpool started the Huws Gray Alliance’s first midweek fixture of the season brightly and could consider themselves unfortunate to go into the turn 1-0 down.
Guilsfield striker Ross Frame was picked out by the impressive Callum Bromley to calmly slide the ball past Dave Jones in the Welshpool goal. Richard Astley also struck the woodwork for Guilsfield in a tight half of few chances.
But the game opened up after the break and it was Welshpool who enjoyed the better chances in the early part. Goalkeeper Dave Maguire showed why he could be the signing of the season for Guilsfield with three smart stops before pulling off a great save to deny John Harris from the penalty spot.
It proved to be the turning point as Dyke was introduced for the tiring Matt Newtown after 70 minutes. He immediately latched onto a smart flick from Frame to dink the ball over Jones for 2-0. A third followed after a goalmouth scramble before he again picked up a Frame through ball to strike the ball low into the bottom corner.

It was Guilsfield’s first win of the season and one which takes them above their near neighbours in the table.
