Game off after Welshpool man's death

10/09/2010 @ 07:47

Tomorrow's game between Waterloo Rovers Colts and Technogroup Welshpool Reserves has been called off following the death of Tony Windsor.

Both sides felt it inappropriate for the match to go ahead in Welshpool after Tony's death on Tuesday following a 12 month battle with cancer.

Tony was a former Waterloo Rovers player and until his illness was a key member of the club's junior coaching staff.

"Both sides have agreed to call off the match as a mark of respect to Tony and his family, " said Waterloo spokesman Dave Proctor.

Technogroup Welshpool and Waterloo are both in North Wales on Welsh Cup duty tomorrow meaning the Maesydre Recreatioin Ground football pitches will be empty as mark of respect.
