Forden has welcomed home a British champion after endurance king Tim Davies won the grueling 2010 British Fell Running Championship.
In an incredible turn of events in the final race of the season held in the Black Mountains close to Llanbedr, Davies and his brother Andrew used tactics generally associated with Formula One as the younger sibling let the elder through to claim the vital win that secured the national title.
Going into the race, England’s Rob Hope was in the box-seat, leading the championships ahead of Davies who had to win to unseat the leader, but some navigational issues for Hope left him chasing hard and he ran out of gas on the 17-mile course.
Tim took advantage of knowing the course to ensure the brothers pulled away from the pack but it was Andrew that was feeling stronger entering the closing stages and opened up a gap on the final hill. But, as the finishing line approached, he slowed down to allow Tim to cap a fine season by crossing the finishing line first for a tremendous achievement.
Tim had competed in the full complement of races this season which qualified him for the British title while Andrew had only taken part in one previous event. Tim’s title assault stepped up with victory in the pen-ultimate event in Sedbergh and this final day victory in a time of 2hr 19m saw him home.
