Guilsfield out of the Welsh Cup

06/11/2010 @ 10:31

Guilsfield are out of the Welsh Cup, beaten 2-1 at home by fellow Huws Gray Cymru Alliance side  Rhos Aelwed.

New manager Russell Cadwallader saw his hopes raised as Graham Dyke shot his side into a 15th minute lead with his first touch after coming on for the injured Ross Frame. But goals from Craig Hughes (21) and John Russell (38) saw the Wrexham club home and ended Guilsfield's hopes of a money spinning run in the competition.

In The Spar Mid Wales League Llanrhaeadr continue to force the pace but were pushed all the way before finally beating Newbridge 3-2.

New Berriew boss Neil Pryce, who has been named the league's manager of the month for October, must think the managing business is a piece of cake after his side won their third game under his control 3-0 at Aberystwyth University. Will Thomas (2) and a cracking Adam Williams strike did the damage. Ray Jones saw his Llansantffraid Village side win 3-1 at Dolgellau.

The going was not so aesy for new Dyffryn Banw boss Ian Roberts with his side crashing 4-0 at home to Carno. Scott Holley was on target twice as Waterloo enjoyed a 5-2 success against Presteigne.

In the only game played in the second division Four Crosses overcame Talgarth 3-1.

Montgomery were on Central Wales FA Cup duty and travelled back from Llandrindod Wells 4-1 winners.

Waterloo Colts won the bragging rights in the local derby with Technogroup Welshpool Reserves in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League. Goals from Chris Lewis and Chris Jones gave the Colts the edge with Luke Weaver replying. Welshpool had to play with 10 men for 78 minutes following the dismissal of Scott Jones by referee Eddie Price - his third red card of the season so far.

On Thursday Guilsfield Reserves enjoyed their second win of the week, with a 5-2 result at Berriew. Steve Morris netted for Llanfechain with Keith Meredith on target for Morda Reserves in a 1-1 draw.
