Two in two out as Cad gets tough

Guilsfield’s revolving door has been in use this week as manager Russell Cadwallader continued his fine-tuning to bring back the winning edge to his inconsistent team.
Without a Huws Gray Alliance home win this season, the villagers take on a Porthmadog side which has won eight successive away matches so Cadwallader has called on his troops to turn Guilsfield’s welcoming home ground into an unwelcome fortress.
“It presents us both with an opportunity to continue our good form from last week, when the players showed an excellent attitude and level of performance, and to start to get the supporters and village behind us as a team,” said Cadwallader.
“This is unlikely to happen with such poor home form but is a vital ingredient to being a successful side. We need to make Guilsfield a difficult place to play for opposing teams and this is the responsibility of the players to perform in a way which gets the fans behind them. In my two games at home so far the first half performances have been lacklustre and short of quality, it has to be better on Saturday.”
Callum Bromley and Scott Graham have been shown the door while John Harris has signed from local rivals Technogroup Welshpool and former Rochadale and TNS midfielder Mark Davies has returned to his native village after a stint in the USA.
“I am now more aware of what individual players are capable of and we are inching closer to what I personally like to see in a team. This, however, isn’t going to happen overnight, but the potential at Guilsfield both on and off the pitch is encouraging. I don’t envisage any more signings. I think a period of consolidation is important after the turbulent past month.”
Meanwhile, Technogroup Welshpool launch their new era under new boss Chris Herbert with up to four new players set to make their debuts alongside the new manager. They face a tricky trip to Ruthin.
