The Welshpool Darts League will be settled on the final day of the season, but there is a mountain to climb for the reigning champions to retain their title, writes Steve Lloyd.
The Talbot A will need to win the final game 6-1 against the leaders Grapes, after they won their pen-ultimate game 5-2 against the Quay. That final match takes place at The Grapes.
Elsewhere, the Westwood salvaged some pride after going 4-0 down to take the last three games from the Grapes. The Westwood’s Gareth Ashley hitting a 180 and the Grapes Keith Gamble a 16-dart 501.
The Pheasant went to the Red Lion Llanfair and came away 5-2 winners and the Kings Head Guilsfield won 6-1 against the Talbot B.
In the second division, bragging rights at Castle Caereinion went to the 26ers with a fine 6-1 win. With the Green Dragon B also winning 5-2 against the Station Grill, the division is a two-horse race with three points separating the top two.
The Social Club beat the Wellington 5-2 and the Green Dragon A beat the Westwood B 6-1.
This Friday sees the Blind Doubles at the Social Club. Turn up and enter your name in the draw and you could end up playing with a Welsh international.
