The Office of National Statistics have last night released figures which show that the number of November claimants for Job Seekers Allowance in Montgomeryshire is down to just 383.

The fall of 30 people claiming means that just 1.3% of the economically active population is unemployed, slightly lower that in November 2015. There were also 100 claimants aged 18-24 within the constituency.

The fall has been welcomed by local MP Glyn Davies who said: “I am also very pleased to see Montgomeryshire's record low unemployment is coupled with the record high levels of employment.

“Montgomeryshire continues to have the lowest rate of unemployment in Wales, and is 148th out of 650 constituencies across Britain for high employment.”
