A good show of otm cattle this week selling to a top of £1765.76 (178ppkg) for a 992kg Limousin otm cow from CV & EM Lewis, Buttington New Hall. DE Morgan & Co, Cefntwlch, presented a 670kg Limousin making £1179.20 (176ppkg). Cows 48 – 72 months topped at £1315.60 (184ppkg) for a Limousin weighing in at 715kg also from CV & EM Lewis, Buttington New Hall. JD Evans & Son, Lake Farm, presented a 642kg Younger Limousin cow making £1110.66 (173ppkg). Heifers under 48 topped at £1071.31 (149ppkg) for a 719kg Limousin from EW Morgan, Fronlas. JG Jones, Cefnbrith, presented a 597kg Lim heifer making £996.99 (167ppkg).
Otm Cows (x29) averaged 120.32ppkg / £732.35.
Cows 48 – 72 months (x6) averaged 157.12ppkg / £1081.48.
Heifers under 48 months (x7) averaged 144.83ppkg / £837.53.
Overall average of 129.18ppkg – MORE CATTLE WANTED TO MEET DEMAND.

An entry of 5045 Prime Lambs sold to an average of 217.16ppkg.
Lights (335) to 216ppkg from I A Poole, Upper Cwm Heyope. Others to 208ppkg from E W Howells, Esgair Yr Hydd. Average of 197.30ppkg.
Standards (1745) to 264ppkg from R A Jones, Red Gwenthrew. Others to 261ppkg from TE Davies, Birchen House. Average of 214.67ppkg.
Mediums (2768) to 276ppkg from BE & BE Langford, Llettymeibion. Others to 275ppkg from RA Davies, Llawnt Isaf. Average of 220.15ppkg.
Heavies (137) to 260ppkg from GE Davies & Sons, Cwmbromley. Others to 243ppkg from HG Ellis & Co, Tynywern. Average of 223.35ppkg.
CULL SHEEP (3575)
A big show of culls this week saw slightly reduced averages of £52.30 for ewes and £70 for rams. Leading the way in the ewe section at £134 was H M Powell & Son, The White House, with a pen of 2 ewes. RG Jenkins & Co, Cilhaul, presented a ewe making £129. Rams topped ta £145 from J Hughes, Pencwm.
COWS & CALVES
An entry of 47 cows and calves topped at £2300 for a red Limousin x 1st calver with a Limousin bull calf from DP & RE Evans, Moel-Y-Garth. Also from the same home were two Limousin x 1st calvers with Limousin Bull calves making £2250 and £2050. An entry of 7 outfits from P Dawes, Kipperknowle Farm, topped at £1860 for a 2014 Born British Blue x cow with her Limousin steer calf , next at £1760 was a 2012 born Limousin x cow with her Limousin heifer calf. The 7 outfits on offer from P Dawes, averaged £1488. JBC & AM Gwilliam, Bwlchgarth, presented a British Blue x Limousin 1st calver with her Limousin x heifer calf making £1820.
a breakdown of prices achieved were as follows: £2000 + 3 lots, £1800 - £2000 2 lots, £1600 - £1800 12 lots, £1400 - £1600 8 lots, £1200 - £1400 15 lots, £1000 - £1200 3 lots, < £1000 1 lot.
