Cobra UK, the Welshpool based automotive parts producers, were honoured at a glittering London presentation ceremony and will now be representing the UK in the finals of the European Business Awards.

Cobra beat off stiff competition to be selected as one of the top 25 UK companies and will now compete for a coveted Ruban d’Honneur with 400 companies from across Europe. Final category award winners will be unveiled in Paris on November 16.

Now in its fourth successful year, the European Business Awards, sponsored by HSBC, has identified some of Europe’s brightest businesses based on their ability to demonstrate innovation, business excellence and sustainability.

The European Business Awards is dedicated to raising the visibility and progress of companies who excel in delivering innovation twinned with successful commercial results whilst acting responsibly and positively affecting the social environment they operate in.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be selected to represent the United Kingdom and it’s an honour to be recognised as one of the leading organisations in our country and in our field,” said Cobra managing director Gary Seale after receiving the award.

“The European Business Awards is widely recognised as the showcase for Europe’s most dynamic companies. We’re looking forward to the next round of the competition where we’ll be competing across Europe to receive a Ruban d’Honneur .”

Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards said: “Over the past 4 years we’ve received an incredibly high standard of entries from organisations who are passionate about their business. However, very few get the chance to fly the flag for their country and compete across Europe to be recognised as one of the EU’s leading companies.

“Over 7,500 companies have been engaged and it really is an exceptional accolade to be picked as a country representative, and together with HSBC we’re looking forward to seeing Cobra in the next round.

Noel Quinn, HSBC Head of Commercial Banking, UK, commented, “I’d like to extend my sincere congratulations to Cobra UK. The competition was extremely tough and it is a fantastic achievementto have come this far.

“The European Business Awards provide a great platform to recognise how businesses have excelled despite the financial uncertainty of the past two years.  The high calibre entries this year highlight UK businesses impressive ability to innovate and generate financial growth despite economic challenges – regardless of sector or size."
