What next for The Talbot?

The Talbot is back up for sale or lease, but its owner has reassured customers that she is in no rush to leave.

Michelle Youens, from Woolston Bank, near Oswestry, re-opened the 16th Century pub back in April last year, investing to breathe new life into the watering hole which has become a popular live music and pool venue.

Speaking at the time, she said she fell in love with The Talbot “the minute I stepped inside it and knew it was for me”.

But the pub is back on the market through Sidney Phillips for sale at £275,000 or for lease at £18,500, with the owner saying she is in no rush to let it go, but merely needs to free up more time to pursue a new project.

“I’ve had so much fun getting The Talbot up and running again,” she told us last night.

“It’s a fantastic little pub and I want it to continue with the live music and pool league and competitions, so ideally leasing the premises, or a sale to the right person.

“This would then allow me to pursue an opportunity that has arisen. But, until that point, there will be no change.”

The former Kellogg’s Company Food Safety/Technical Manager has experience of returning pubs to their glory days having purchased The Original Ball in Maesbury in 2013.
