Still time to nominate

07/08/2017 @ 09:45
The hunt is on for carers who make a difference in Welshpool.

Local care provider, Abacare, has extended the deadline for its care awards that allows the elderly and vulnerable to nominate a carer for an award that recognises their work.

Abacare has extended the deadline for people receiving care to nominate their carers for a series of accolades including Carer of the Year and Dementia Champion of the Year. The awards are open to carers in Wales.

Peter Angelides, CEO at Abacare, said: “We received lots of nominations in our Abacare Awards, but wanted to make sure everyone got the opportunity to send theirs in so we have extended the deadline.

“Our awards, which include 10 different categories, celebrate the outstanding contribution our staff and carers make to the lives of those they care for. The closing date for entries is August 31, 2017 at midnight and we’re keen to hear from as many of our service users and their families and friends as possible.”

“Team members can also nominate their colleagues in the various categories too and we are open to nominations from all members of the public too. The categories include ‘Carer of the Year’, ‘Best Newcomer’, and ‘Lifetime Achievement’ and many more. My fellow directors and I, along with a panel of other industry experts, will select the finalists and the overall winners. We’re really looking forward to reading all the submissions.”

All the finalists will be invited to a special awards ceremony in the autumn, at a date and venue to be confirmed, where the overall winner in each category will be announced and presented with their award.

Entry forms and a full list of categories are available via www.abacare.org.uk/news.
