Head praises pupils and staff

Welshpool High School head teacher Jim Toal has praised pupils and staff following today’s A-Level results.

“We​ ​are​ ​very​ ​pleased​ ​that​ ​once​ ​again​ ​there​ ​has​ ​been​ ​a​ ​100%​ ​success​ ​rate​ ​of​ ​those​ ​students​ ​entered 

for​ ​two​ ​or​ ​more​ ​A​ ​Levels​ ​or​ ​equivalent,​ ​who​ ​have​ ​gained​ ​two​ ​or​ ​more​ ​passes.,” he said. ​

“Almost​ ​70%​ ​of students​ ​gained​ ​at​ ​least​ ​one​ ​A*-​ ​A​ ​grade​ ​or​ ​equivalent​ ​and​ ​almost​ ​a​ ​third​ ​achieved​ ​two​ ​or​ ​more​ ​A*-A grades.​ ​Additionally,​ ​almost​ ​70%​ ​of​ ​students​ ​gained​ ​two​ ​or​ ​more​ ​A*-B​ ​grades​ ​or​ ​equivalent.​

“The most​ ​notable​ ​individual​ ​performances​ ​were​ ​Melody​ ​Watson​ ​(2A*,​ ​2​ ​A);​ ​Jasmine​ ​Morris​ ​(2A*,​ ​1A); Emily​ ​McGurn​ ​(2A*,​ ​1​ ​A);​ ​Sophie​ ​Hudson​ ​(1​ ​A*,​ ​3A);​ ​and​ ​Sophie​ ​Haysell​ ​(3​ ​Distinction*,​ ​1​ ​C).  

“I​ ​would​ ​like​ ​to​ ​congratulate​ ​all​ ​of​ ​the​ ​students​ ​on​ ​their​ ​results​ ​and​ ​wish​ ​them​ ​all​ ​the​ ​very​ ​best​ ​for​ ​the  future.​ ​I​ ​would​ ​also​ ​like​ ​to​ ​thank​ ​all​ ​of​ ​the​ ​teachers​ ​and​ ​staff​ ​for​ ​supporting​ ​the​ ​students​ ​so​ ​ably​ ​over the​ ​last​ ​two​ ​years​ ​of​ ​study,” he added
