Charity events raise £14,836

Two recent events in aid of Macmillan and Hope House raised a staggering £14,836, marked by a cheque presentation recently.

This huge sum was only raised due to the generosity of family, friends and local people who supported both events.

A fun day with auction, live music and raffle was held last October and raised £10,560 in aid of Hope House, for Keigan Joseph Davies son of Sarah and BJ Davies who passed away at 11 days old last March.

They used the Hope House facility after he passed away, and Macmillan was the choice of the landlady of the Admiral Rodney Mary Roberts, who hosted the event.

The event was organised by Sarah Davies and Charlotte Francis plus lots of helpers. “The number of amazingly generous donations both made this a huge success and meant that we were able to hold another event,” said Sarah.

The second event was a Charity Dinner with live music and auction in Welshpool Town Hall.  The money was again raised in memory of Keigan for Hope House, but this time the Macmillan donations were in memory of Kate, Mum of Rhiannon and Eleri and wife of Welshpool Vicar, Rev Steve Willson, who died of breast cancer in 2010.

The Willson family worked with Sarah and Charlotte and the event raised £4,276.

“There were so many people and organisations who contributed to the amazing success, we couldn’t name them all here, much as we would like to,” added Sarah.

“We just want you all to know how amazingly grateful we are, we couldn’t have raised such a magnificent amount without you. This is our very special thank you to you all.”
