McCartneys staff going up a mountain 10 times
Staff at McCartneys Estate Agents really do havea mountain to climb – and they’ll be doing it 10 times in aid of The Alzheimers Society.
“It was once stated that people first diagnosed with dementia felt they had a mountain to climb - a looming colossal obstacle of unchartered territory,” said a company spokesman.
“With support and help, that first step doesn’t seem so high, the following small steps eased with many helping hands and people to turn to.
“The Alzheimer’s Society UK offers support for all kinds of dementia, it also funds research and actively campaigns for those affected and their families.
“The team at McCartneys want to help with this wonderful work, so that no one has to face dementia alone and so they have chosen to climb that mountain.”
On the 19th and 20th July they aim to do 10 ascents of Pen Y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons, within 24 hours. Ten ascents of Pen-Y-Fan is the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest, so no small task.
The participating climbers will start on Friday 19th July with the individual efforts climbing through the night, finishing on Saturday.
“We currently have five individuals aiming to do a solo effort of ten ascents in 24 hours and two teams looking to do 10 ascents between them, meaning we collectively climb the equivalent of Mount Everest eight times within 24 hours,” said the spokesman.
“There are various levels of fitness, ages and medical conditions but ultimately the team will get each other to their goal. You can see updates on our social media sites throughout the challenge.”
