Councillor quits Labour for Plaid

A Welshpool Town Councillor has quit the Labour Party to join Plaid Cymru.

The decision by Councillor Nicola Morris has been welcomed by Elwyn Vaughan, Plaid’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Montgomeryshire.

“I am pleased to welcome Welshpool Town Councillor, Nicola Morris as a Plaid Cymru member,” he said. “She is joining Plaid from Labour as we understand the needs of rural Wales and are proactive locally in ensuring environmental issues are on the agenda. Croeso Nicola.”

Councillor Morris told MyWelshpool: “Plaid Cymru has a better understanding of our rural Welsh communities than any of the other parties - representing Wales with a clear and positive manifesto promoting the welsh economy as a priority. Wales has been held back for too long.

“Climate change is a matter of extreme urgency which should take precedence over anything else and Plaid Cymru's key climate pledges address an environmental crisis with a clear action plan that has a Green New Deal at its very heart.”
