To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the path, the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail is asking walkers to share their memories of walking this iconic route.
Whether it was a favourite memory from years gone by or a recollection from the present day, the Offa’s Dyke Path team are keen to hear all your stories and see those special photos taken whist enjoying a walk along the historic trail.
Shared tales, photographs and anecdotes of walkers’ experiences on the Offa’s Dyke Path from the last 50 years will be shared on Offa’s Dyke Path website and social media pages to celebrate this trail’s golden anniversary.
To get involved and share your favourite memories, get in touch via Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #OffasDykePath50, tagging the Offa’s Dyke Path official accounts.
Alternatively, images and stories can be sent directly the Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail Officer, Rob Dingle via rob.dingle@powys.gov.uk
“Our Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail Officer, Rob Dingle, is really looking forward to seeing a great collection of walkers' memories from the last 50 years of the Offa’s Dyke Path, and we are certain that these special photos and stories will inspire walkers for another 50 years to enjoy our breath-taking borderlands,” said Nigel Brinn, Powys County Council’s Corporate Director for Economy and Environment.
“Everyone that does submit a photo and memory will receive one of the special 50th anniversary key rings as a special keepsake for being part of such a historic and special anniversary.”
Alongside 50 years of memories, the anniversary will be celebrated through events and launches (dependent on Covid-19 restrictions).
