Entertainment will be the name of the game at the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway’s Welshpool Raven Square station this Friday and Saturday, as the popular mid-Wales heritage railway hosts its Midsummer Madness Beer & Cider Festival.
Now well-established, the event will feature a wide range of beers and ciders from local breweries, together with a packed programme of live music organised by Charman Promotions, in the authentic surroundings of the line’s display shed with a backdrop of steam locomotives.
The Festival takes place on Friday from 5pm to 10.30pm and on Saturday between 11am and 10.30pm, with music on offer for a range of tastes, including the Newtown Male Voice Choir at 5pm on Saturday and topped by Chris Squires on Friday and Duke Box on Saturday.
Chris plays a wide range of genres to keep the party spirit flowing with those who have seen him perform saying that when he sings you’d think the actual artist was in front of you.
Duke Box uses acoustic guitar and a gritty, soulful style to bring raw energy to stripped-back rock, indie and classics.
Tickets are on sale on the door and hot food will also be available. The railway will also be running its normal train services to Llanfair Caereinion on Saturday, plus special late services on both Friday and Saturday, departing Llanfair Caereinion for Welshpool at 6pm on Friday and 6.30pm on Saturday, with returns to Llanfair Caereinion at 10.30pm.
