‘Help us bid farewell to our school’

22/06/2022 @ 10:29

Pupils and staff of yesterday at one local school are being given the opportunity to enjoy one last school day before it closes.

Castle Caereinion Church in Wales Primary School will ring its bell for the last time at the end of term, the victim of a Powys County Council schools closure programme that had placed all small schools’ future in doubt.

A gallant campaign to keep it open was unsuccessful, so the remaining pupils will be preparing for life in new schools, but not before one last celebration next week.

“The local community, pupils and staff and their families of past and present, are invited to join us to celebrate the fantastic years this school has been open,” a spokesperson said.

“We are having an open evening event on Wednesday, June 29, from 3pm-6pm, where the school and its grounds will be open for visitors to wonder around, meet each other, reminisce and gather the last few memories of this school being a buzzing little place filled with the essence of children, learning and fun.”

Refreshments will be served in the Community Hall and anyone wishing to attend should contact the school ASAP on office@castle.powys.sch.uk.
