Betsy will be dancing with the stars!

A Welshpool High School pupil has come through a rigorous audition process to be recognised as one of the best young dancers in the UK.

Betsy Mills Hogg, 12, has secured a place as a Dance Star 2023 at the prestigious Can You Dance? (CYD), the UK’s biggest touring and industry-leading dance convention company.

The company is formed from the UK’s best youth dancers from ages 8-18 years and each year, CYD? hosts an annual audition that puts the dancers through a vigorous audition process.

Betsy has managed to be selected by a panel of leading dance industry experts, including CYD? Directors, Matt Flint, a creative director and choreographer for TV, film and theatre including shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, and Tom Shilcock, a professional dancer and choreographer that has danced for the likes of Rita Ora, Rihanna, Jason Derulo and many more.

She will now have the privilege of representing her hometown at the hugely anticipated Can You Dance? events, working alongside international choreographers and dance educators.
