Dyfed-Powys Police have arrested a man after responding to a vigilante group’s live Facebook video sting in a Welshpool car park on Monday night.

The video, which appears to have been filmed in Morrison’s Car Park, was watched by tens of thousands of people on the Secretly Tracking Online Predators (S.T.O.P.) Stings site, and finishes with police officers arriving after being called by members present, who said they would be handing over the video as evidence.

The group said their operation was run in partnership with The Guardian Angels group.

This morning, local police confirmed their attendance and that an arrest had been made.

“Dyfed-Powys Police responded to an incident in Welshpool on the evening of Monday, July 3. A man has been arrested and is currently being held in police custody whilst enquiries continue,” said a police spokesperson.

The STOP Stings Facebook page has over 230,000 followers and is known for posting videos from groups who expose adults that target underage children online for sexual activity.
