Welshpool’s great Dane!

Welshpool Town Football Club and Juniors Secretary Eva Bredsdorrf has been named the Football Association of Wales (FAW) Grassroots Volunteer of the Year.

Eva has been instrumental in creating the new Wayne Evans Playing Fields in Welshpool, which opened last month, and was previously named as the Central Wales Volunteer of the Year.

But at a ceremony in Cardiff last night, Eva was confirmed as the best in Wales, drawing praise from the club who said she was “a legend”.

Originally from Denmark, Eva has been a prominent member of Welshpool life for more than three decades volunteering for the club whilst also previously working as the curator of the Powysland Museum.

After receiving the award, she told us: “I am absolutely overwhelmed. Never thought I was going to win. But I couldn’t have done it without my family, especially my other half Ben.

“Also thank you to Chris Roberts (Club Chair) and to our FAW club development officer Mark Bull, and all at the FAW, who have made it a pleasure to work with the organisation.”
