If not a ghost, what is it?

Welshpool Town Council is seeking an explanation for strange goings-on at the Town Hall, which even the Mayor concedes could be ghostly.

Earlier this week, our exclusive footage showed CCTV footage of an incident in the 250-year-old building that workers believe have been caused by a ghost they have named ‘George’.

The CCTV had only been in place a few days, when books could be seen being ‘thrown’ to the floor from a shelf.

At last night’s Services and Property Committee meeting, the issue was discussed during Operations Manager, Pail McGrath’s monthly report.

Cllr Phil Owen asked: “If it isn’t a poltergeist, is there any other evidence to suggest that there are intruders in there?”

Mr McGrath replied “absolutely not” before Town Mayor, Cllr Nick Howells, said: “I looked at it many times with Paul, and, quite honestly, some people, sceptics, tried to say that someone pushed them from behind, but it is up against a stone wall.

“Obviously there is nobody on camera and suddenly out of nowhere, they didn’t just topple off the shelf, the books went flying off the shelf. They couldn’t have been pushed as there is a solid wall behind it.”

In response to our story earlier this week, a number of ghost hunters reported experiencing considerable activity in the Town Hall.

See for yourself, the footage can be viewed here on our MyWelshpoolTV YouTube channel.
