A Welshpool High School pupil has bounced back from some tough personal challenges to finish second at British awards celebrating teenagers, their goals and achievements.

Scarlett Davies, 14, came through bullying 18 months ago prior to joining Welshpool High School to be named Miss Junior Teen Powys and went on to compete at the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain Finals in Blackpool, where she finished first runner-up.

The Year 9 student has raised £2,000 for various charities, whilst being the founder of an online anti-bullying campaign called ‘Forever You’.

“I feel proud to have represented Powys, whilst receiving the crown and awards,” she said.

“I really appreciate the support from my family, friends and sponsors, and I'm looking forward to represent Powys at Junior Galaxy UK.”

That event will take place in Warrington next year with Scarlett saying she will continue to be a role model for those who have suffered similar experiences.

What is ‘Little Miss Teen’?

Little Miss Teen Great Britain, Miss Junior Teen Great Britain and Miss Teen Great Britain are NOT beauty contests. The organisers tell us to “forget the pageant stereotype, this competition is a platform to celebrate teenagers, their achievements and their goals”.

“This UK pageant is about empowering teens, having fun, making friends and incredible memories!” the organisers explain.
