Welshpool confirms Xmas Lights switch-on details

15/11/2023 @ 07:27

Welshpool will officially launch its Christmas season on November 25 with a day of festivities culminating in the Christmas Lights being switched on at 5pm.

The Town Council has confirmed that the Winter Festival will be a one-day event only with the lights switching on for the first time in a while on a Saturday, after several years on a Friday night.

There will be live entertainment on the main stage in the town centre throughout the day, as well as outside the Royal Oak and outside the Monkey Puzzle cafe.

“We have Santa in his grotto, craft sessions, storytelling, and balloon modelling just to name a few, all free of charge,” a spokesperson told us.

“Refreshments will be served in the Corn Exchange for a small fee, and we will be holding a raffle.”

There are still spaces for outdoor stalls so anyone interested should contact the Town Council.

A Christmas Tree competition, which is £5 to enter, is also running and all proceeds go towards the Community Church which will be providing a Christmas meal to those who are unable to provide one for themselves. All entries must be delivered to the Corn Exchange by Friday, November 24, by 4pm.

The magical post box has also been delivered to Welshpool indoor market, which is open Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9.30am-4pm.

Post your letter to Santa, and be sure to include your address so Santa can reply. All letters must be posted by Tuesday, December 12.
