Two community initiatives that provide vital support to the wider Welshpool area have put out a call for volunteers.
The Hub, which operates from the Town Hall twice a week, and Meals on Wheels both play a crucial role in local life but rely on local people donating a couple of hours here and there to make them tick.
This morning, the Town Council, who organise both initiatives issued a call for new recruits.
“We are looking for volunteers for The Hub and Meals on Wheels,” the Town Council announced in a statement.
“Would you like to become a volunteer for The Hub? We are looking for friendly volunteers who have a couple of hours to spare on a Tuesday or Thursday between 10am and 2pm. Contact the office deb@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk or give us a ring on 01938 553142 or pop into The Hub for a chat with Cllr Nick Howells, Town Mayor.
“Would you like to become a volunteer for Meals On Wheels? We are looking for friendly volunteers who can cook or drive. If you have any time to spare between Monday and Friday please give Wendy a ring on 01938 554458 or email daycentre@welshpooltowncouncil.gov.uk.”
The Hub originally opened to combat the cost of living crisis, but has become a much-needed meeting point for residents all year round. Meanwhile, Meals on Wheels has been providing warm meals to residents for more than 60 years.
