Gold for Adele!

19/01/2024 @ 12:50

Welshpool athlete Adele Nicoll has followed up yesterday’s Europa Cup silver medal in the monobob by winning gold in today’s two-woman bobsleigh with Kya Placide and qualifying for the World Championships.

The pair finished an impressive 0.61 seconds clear of the second-placed Belgian team, with a Polish pair coming in third.

It completes an astonishing two days for the 27-year-old on the St Moritz track in Switzerland with Adele saying: “This is what we came for!”

The pair clocked the fastest start time, fastest down time and overall fastest times from the two runs.

It was also the first time that Team GB have won a Europa Cup gold in seven years, in what was only the pair’s second location to race together.

The win sets up an exciting remainder of the season for Adele who will head back to Lillehammer, Norway, for a World Cup event (January 27-28), before competing in other World Cup events in Sigulda (February 2-4), and Lake Placid, USA (March 22-23), not to mention competing at the World Championships to be held in Winterburg, Germany, at the end of February.
