Welshpool set for TV starring role tonight

30/01/2024 @ 09:30

Welshpool will be in the prime-time TV spotlight tonight when a documentary series fronted by Wales rugby legend Scott Quinnell gets underway.

The town will feature heavily in Stryd I’r Sgrym, a six-part programme that starts tonight on S4C at 9pm.

A number of local people will feature in the series that sees the former Lions player create a new rugby team made up from ordinary people.

Tonight, Scott and his coaches will meet the team for the first time at an open day held at Welshpool Rugby Club.

The programme will enable viewers to get to know the characters, hear their highs and lows and set the scene for the rest of the series.

“There will be a few familiar faces in the series and tonight’s is all Welshpool,” said the club’s Chair, Kevin Williams.

The club is on a high at the moment, following Saturday’s tremendous display that saw them beat Division Two East leaders Denbigh, 27-16, to stay in the hunt for promotion.
