Discover Welshpool of yesteryear this weekend

An enlightening journey through the Welshpool of yesteryear can be undertaken this weekend when an exhibition will be held in the town.

The ‘Memories of Welshpool’ exhibition is open to all on Saturday in the Town Hall’s Corn Exchange, from 10am-4pm.

“Apart from photographs, scrapbooks and copies of old local newspapers there will also be the star attraction of the ‘Spirit of Welshpool’ model railway layout depicting the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway as it passed through the town centre,” said organiser, Alan Crowe.

Admission is by donation, with a minimum of £1 going towards its costs, and anyone who has any photos or other memorabilia relating to the town is welcome to go along and exhibit.

The following day, on Sunday, Memories of Welshpool have organised a reunion of former town councillors and staff in the Corn Exchange from 2-4pm to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the Town Council. All ex-councillors and staff are welcome.
