Huge Welshpool decisions to be made in secret next week

16/05/2025 @ 10:24

Welshpool Town Council’s ‘Chamber of Secrets’ will host a busy session behind closed doors next Wednesday to discuss four massive issues that will impact the town’s future.

Welshpool Town Council has the right to discuss issues of their choosing behind closed doors without the scrutiny of the press and public.

But, in the past this has backfired, particularly when it has come to the calamitous issues such as the £300,000 refurbishment of the Tourist Information Centre and Skatepark.

However, next Wednesday’s Services and Property Committee meeting will see no less than four key issues impacting the town’s council tax payers held in ‘Confidential Session’.

The Town Council will remind us that councillors have been elected by their constituents to represent them when it comes to making the tough decisions, particularly relating to finances.

The confidential session items are listed below:

BERRIEW STREET TOILETS [CONFIDENTIAL]

To consider an update from the Town Clerk in respect of Berriew Street Toilets.

DAY CENTRE [CONFIDENTIAL]

To consider an update from the Town Clerk in respect of the Day Centre.

MOTTE & BAILEY [CONFIDENTIAL]

To consider a proposal and the Town Clerk’s recommendation in relation to the Motte and Bailey.

TOWN HALL LAND [CONFIDENTIAL]

To consider a proposal and the Town Clerk’s recommendation in relation to land at the Town Hall.
