Welshpool Classic Car Show cancelled

A festival this weekend that was set to bring in a big number of visitors to the area has been cancelled.

The Welshpool Classic Car Show was set to attract up to 200 vehicles following a successful debut held last year at Glansevern Hall, near Berriew, when 150 cars exhibited.

But after the venue owners informed organisers that they were unable to host it again this year, the search for a replacement venue has drawn a blank and left the organisers with no choice.

“We looked at possible other venues but they wanted astronomical hire fees which would have made it impossible to be financially viable,” said lead organiser, Alan Crowe.

“So, it has had to be cancelled but I hope to be back probably at a different location next year.”

All is not lost though this weekend with the Welshpool Poetry Festival scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday.
