Welshpool Rugby Club have called on irresponsible dog walkers to pick up their mess after the issue was highlighted last night.
The club said that large amounts of dog mess have been left on their pitches, with one member claiming to have picked up around 20 lots before a recent game could be played.
They have now called on dog walkers to keep their pets on a lead after saying that the problem was “getting worse”.
“We have had large amounts of dog mess left on our pitch, and particularly our training pitch on the next field,” a club spokesperson said.
“This is an area where our teams, including young children, have to train and the problem appears to be getting worse. Could local dog walkers please refrain from letting their dogs off their leads on the pitches, and when walking alongside them, pick up any mess and take it with you!”
A similar problem in Guilsfield resulted in dogs being completely banned from their sports fields which has largely addressed the problem, but earlier this week the village cricket club posted to remind dog walkers the area is off limits after seeing the problem creep back in recent weeks.
