Change to Guilsfield-Welshpool road closure dates

An update has been issued this afternoon as to when the A490 main road between Guilsfield and Welshpool will be completely closed.

We announced last week that motorists are set for months of disruption as Hafren Dyfrdwy carries out a major maintenance project to replace pipes, coasting almost £700,000.

While that work is now underway with some disruption, the complete road closure has been switched to October 27-December 12, a week later than originally planned.

Lengthy diversions will be in place, and there has been a plea for those with local knowledge to avoid using the ‘rat runs’ and causing potentially more issues.

The work is expected to continue well into the New Year.
