Relief as road closure cancelled next week

Motorists have been given a rare piece of good news after councillors and local politicians were informed that the Welshpool-Arddleen Road WILL NOT be closed at night from Monday until November 21.

The Welshpool area is facing travelling chaos at the moment caused by several planned road closures and the unexpected long-term Llandrinio Bridge closure this week.

And it was due to get a lot worse from Monday with an application in place to close the A483 from Buttington Roundabout to allow for work to continue on the development taking shape there.

But that won’t now be the case after an email from the North & Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency informed local decision makers yesterday that the closure would be replaced by traffic lights.

In the email, seen by MyWelshpool, it informs that the road closure, which was due to be from 7pm-7am will be replaced by “multiphase traffic signals” instead.

These are challenging times for many motorists with a number of closures in place, including the road connecting Guilsfield to Welshpool which will be shut until December 12 for pipe replacement work.
