All set for the Tractor Run!

A lead organiser of the annual Illuminated Tractor Run that will start and finish in Welshpool tomorrow (Sunday) has said “we are ready to go” ahead of the big event.

Residents across the area will be out on the streets and roadsides to watch the annual spectacle roar through, providing a tremendous part of our festive season with the aim to raise thousands of pounds for Tir Dewi, a charity that supports farmers and their families to overcome their problems, whatever they may be.

The event is once again in the hands of Jenny and Kevin Clarke and their band of trusty volunteers who have put together what promises to be another colourful event.

“Due to several different road closures, traffic management issues and ongoing roadworks there are a few changes to this year’s route,” said Jenny.

“We’ve tried our best to involve the same villages as we always do, with an additional few this year of Pool Quay, Middletown, Halfway House, Coedway and Crew Green. We’ve only added on a few extra miles to the previous years’ route.”

Sunday’s timetable:

-       Tractors to arrive at Livestock Sales Market from 1pm

-       Spectators from 2pm

-       Tractor to depart at 5pm

·      Starting at Welshpool Livestock Market

·      Turn Left heading down the bypass, 

·      Taking the slip road Right onto Salop Road.

QUIET ZONE will be between Applegreen petrol station and The Westwood pub

·      Follow the one-way system from the The Westwood Pub 

·      Round past Marks Autos.

·      Left at NFU MUTUAL to the traffic lights.

·      Turn Right at the traffic lights and go up the High Street keeping to the left towards The Raven Roundabout.

·      Take the 2nd exit towards Guilsfield.

·      Take the second turning into Guilsfield (opposite Hardings) 

·      Then left onto the B4392 to Arddleen.

·      Get to the T-Junction at the other end of Arddleen,

·      Turn Left towards Four Crosses/Oswestry.

·      Head towards Four Crosses roundabout.

·      Take 3rd Exit into Four Crosses, 

·      Go straight over zebra crossing and past Lloyd Fraser buildings (on the right).

·      Turn right at the end of the road towards Llandrinio.

·      Head straight to the T-Junction at the end and turn right onto the B4393 heading back towards the the A483.

·      Turning left onto the A483 and head back towards Welshpool/Buttington roundabout.

·      Take first exit towards Shrewsbury on the A458

·      Head towards Middletown, pass through and on towards Halfway House

·      Turn left at the cross roads at Halfway House Garage on Pecknall Lane, and proceed towards Princes Oak.

·      Turn left onto the B4393 and head towards Crew Green via Coedway

·      Turn left onto Criggion Lane and follow the lane back towards Trewern/Buttington

·      Finish back at Welshpool Livestock Market

There are refreshment businesses along the route.
