“We’ll be back again next year!”

The annual Welshpool Illuminated Tractor Run was a sparkling success on Sunday, and the lead organiser has said that we can expect it to return in 2026!

Jenny Clarke, who founded the event with her husband Kevin, told us last night that despite tighter rules and regulations surrounding tractor runs these days, they hope to work again with their band of volunteers to produce another Christmas spectacular in a year’s time.

“The tractor run this year was a great success,” she said. “With just under 170 tractors taking part and the help of lots of lovely volunteers who helped organise, marshal and shake buckets, we’ve collectively, done it again!”

The money donate is still being counted, with all of the funds going to a little-known charity called Tir Dewi this year, an agricultural charity who help farmers and their families in times of need.

“We’ve always tried to stick with farming related charities to give back to the farmers who give so much and, in our opinion, get very little in return,” explained Jenny.

“It would be very easy for us to choose other charities, larger, more well-known charities to get the very high number of donations but these smaller charities need to be brought to people’s attention and get some limelight.

“We’d like to thank everyone for coming to support and especially the farmers for taking the time out of their day to decorate their tractors so well and to join the event.”

Jenny said visitors had attended from across the UK with thousands of people lining the route through Welshpool and surrounding villages.

Organising the event has become a huge task, and it was in doubt until earlier this year when a number of people stepped forward to help, and thankfully it has put the tractor run on a stronger footing.

“Rules and regulations for tractor runs are becoming a lot stricter so we had a few extra hurdles to jump this year, but if we can get the help we have had this year, for next year, then we will certainly be doing it again,” added Jenny.
