The road that was due to be closed for nearly seven weeks in the run-up to Christmas will be fully reopened over the weekend, it has been confirmed.
The A490 between Guilsfield and Welshpool was only closed for a few days in the end after Hafren Dyfrdwy installed two sets of lights instead for a £700,000 job to improve our water supply.
But the engineers removed one set of traffic lights yesterday morning, with the second set expected to go any time soon.
A Hafren Dyfrdwy spokesperson said: “We’re pleased to announce that the £700,000 scheme to improve our network on the A490 is almost complete. Our teams are still on site finalising the work, and we expect to be finished, and the road fully reopened, this weekend.
“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we’ve worked here over the past few months.”
