One last party as Ceri signs off after 30 years!

One of Welshpool’s longest serving fitness instructors has announced that she is calling it a day after 30 years, but will be going out with a bang!

Ceri Roberts has been delivering fitness classes that have kept hundreds of people in shape over the years, but she is hanging up her teaching trainers with a charity bash for one last hurrah.

“It’s going to be so difficult as I’ve got such a lovely team that come along, but it’s just time,” said Ceri, who spent 17 years at The Flash before 13 years running Unique Physique.

“So, I’m doing a charity Clubbathon at The Flash on Saturday, April 11, from 9.30am-12.30pm with all proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation. Just a little sign off celebration before I finish!”

Reflecting on her career and the ever-evolving nature of the industry, Ceri said that it is her clients that have kept her going for so long.

“I would say one of the biggest changes over time has been how much more people are prioritising their fitness these days,” she said.

“People now see it as an essential part of weekly routine and realise how important it is physically but also how closely it is linked to their mental health.

“Another development is resistance-based training. When I first started, all those years ago, for lots of women I trained it would be “I don’t want to lift weights” or “I don’t want to get bigger and muscly”. Luckily that has changed and it has been a big inclusion into clients' regular training.

“When I first started taking fitness classes I remember thinking that for lots of people exercising can be scary and intimidating, so what I’ve always strived to do is promote fitness for everyone and make it as inclusive and as much fun for them along the way as I possibly can!

“I’ve enjoyed it so much over the 30 years and I am grateful to have been able do it and meet and train so many amazing people. I really am going to miss it and them, A LOT!”

Ceri hasn’t ruled out doing some personal training in the coming years, but has her eyes fixed on trying different things.
